Happy CNY everyone! Just got back from Miri a few hours ago. Was a good break and I had fun with my family especially my grandmother. I love spending time with her and talking to her; improving my Chinese at the same time haha. Usually it'd be a drag but since I've grown older I guess I've learned to appreciate different things now. She's really cute and really willing to give and such a joy to be around, and during this time, there definitely was no difference.

Not the nicest picture of her but I love my popo anyway!

As per usual, the family would drive down to Miri 2 days prior to Chinese New Year and drive back down 2 days after the first day. I left with my mom Friday morning while my dad and my brother came later in the afternoon. And even more than usual, we spent, and spent, and spent... haha :P I met with my cousin, aunt and grandmother from my mother's side as well and had a yummy lunch. Loving good food just pretty much runs in the family. Oh how I love it!

Dinner on the first day of CNY. Frog legs yum =) [same place I had dinner with the w.team back during Freshwinds]

Every eve of this festive season would come the best part - even better than all the cash I could ever get in a red packet. And that's the time of fireworks! You could be sleeping, showering, cooking, reading or doing whatever, and off goes a *boom* - without it, it could never be the same. 5 minutes before midnight and the war has just begun. Our house is situated in the middle of the neighborhood so it felt as though one side was at war with the other haha. Everyone would stand outside, watch the fireworks and start opening up their gates wishing each other a "Xin Nian Kuai Le". My parents were sleeping (throughout the whole thing! They must be deaf or something) and my brother was out, so it was just me and my popo.

I've got a few videos of the fireworks somewhere, will upload them some other time :)

I got to talk to my mom a lot, which was fun. We don't have Astro back in Miri, just some chinese satellite cable thing so we'd usually be hoping for something good to watch- and they have Star World in Mandarin there! With all different shows but a few good ones, like American Idol and Friends haha :D and plus... this cable thing had games too, remember Tetris?

My mom spent like 40 minutes at this level, HAHA!

My mom is really competitive and she hates losing to what she's good in. Her face was practically stoned while playing the dumb game. Don't misjudge her dumbfounded look, she was always awesome at those games. She even kicked my butt in Big 2 which I taught her while we were there. We're so laid back and relaxed over there, without a care in the world; just constantly gaining weight and wasting away our cash on apparel. Isn't that something?

Last but not least - the number one that thing makes Chinese New Year famous for what it is.

Some other random stuff :)

Can't upload anymore 'cause Blogger's just being slow. Ciaooooo now!
